In this lab, we are going to investigate the electric field of some less common, but recognizable, configurations. In addition to needing several pieces of conducting paper, you will need an 8-volt DC power supply, and a galvanometer with probes. In addition, you will be using a pen with conductive ink to draw four configurations to test. The kit comes with metal push-pins to provide the electrical connections. Each configuration needs a minimum of 10 equipotential surfaces and 10 field lines. Turn in your field maps at the end of the period. Your grade will be based on how well you investigate the space supporting the electrodes and how well you sketch in the equipotential surfaces and the field line vectors. Make sure you mark which electrode was positive and which was negative. |
